1980 Triumph TR8

In the spring a man's thoughts turn to British convertibles, and what makes more sense than the most powerful, lowest production Triumph ever made - the TR8. With a 3.5 liter V8 engine, the TR8 was the fastest and last production car Triumph made. And being as Greg had re-acquired his original white one, it made even more sense. This car came from North Jersey, and was a very clean, stock, unmolested example. I bought it for $7000 and set about enjoying it for the summer, and drove it to the 2010 Watkins Glen Vintage event.

But by the end of the fall it was gut-check time. By todays standards the stock TR8 was slow. So, it needed hopping up. But, you don't ruin a survivor. This car was meant to remain stock. So I sold it in the fall of 2010 and made a dollar or 2 on it. I hope its future owners take care of it, and don't add that Holly 4 barrel. Nice knowing you, little TR.
